Groundbreaking ceremony at 1 p.m. Oct. 9 in West Garfield Park for construction of affordable housing project
WEST GARFIELD PARK, Ill. – United for Better Living - Chicago will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at 1 p.m. Oct. 9 at 4549 West Washington Blvd. in West Garfield Park for the construction of the C.A.R.E. MANOR Affordable Housing Project. Light refreshments will be served. COVID-19 protocols will be observed.
Comprised of 43 units, C.A.R.E. MANOR features a mixture of spacious one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments with tenant reserved parking, play area, porch configurations and front-entry canopy in a gated community.
“The C.A.R.E. MANOR Affordable Housing Project adds to United for Better Living’s mission to make life and living better in West Garfield Park and surrounding communities,” Whittley said.
The goals of the ceremony are as follows:
Publicly announce the official groundbreaking of the new C.A.R.E. MANOR Affordable Housing Project;
Highlight the role UBL and collaborative organizations will play in addressing the social, economic, safety and affordable housing needs of the residents;
Announce the C.A.R.E. MANOR development team and event sponsor.
“C.A.R.E. MANOR will positively impact individuals and families with quality and affordable housing in the heart of the community,” said Bishop David Todd Whittley, president of U.B.L. Chicago. “Likewise, residents will benefit greatly from the entire array of U.B.L. social services.”
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is among the stakeholders who have been invited to the ceremony.
